About Us

In 2015, Drew Meincke founded Son of a Sailor as a sailboat charter business, inspired by his lifelong love of boating and the waters of Chatham. What started as a passion for being on the water has grown into something much more — a commitment to caring for boats, their owners, and the boating community that has been such an important part of Drew’s life.

Drew’s connection to the Chatham waterfront began when he was just 13 years old, working at his family's marina that would become such a meaningful part of his life. At 20 years old, he began working full time at Stage Harbor Marine, where he spent the next 20 years learning every aspect of the boatyard and eventually managing its day-to-day operations.

Today, Drew has proudly taken ownership of the storage and maintenance operations of the former Stage Harbor Marine. For Drew, this is more than a business — it’s an opportunity to continue a tradition of local, hands-on boat care in a place and community he has called home for so many years.

We know that owning a boat is about more than maintenance and storage. It’s about early mornings on the water, family outings, fishing trips, sailing with friends, and making memories in the waters around Chatham. Our job is to take care of the details behind the scenes so our customers can spend more time enjoying the reason they own a boat in the first place.
